The three phases of a BOT engagement
Phase 1 · Up to 3 months
Build

Phase 2 · Up to 3 years
Operate

What is the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model?
BOT is a contractual model in which a service provider sets up, optimizes and runs a delivery operation with the stipulated intent of transferring it to the client as a captive center. Unlike traditional outsourcing, the engagement is designed from day one to end with you owning the team, the processes and the intellectual property.
How long does a BOT engagement take?
The Build phase takes up to 3 months, the Operate phase typically runs 20–24 months (up to 3 years), and the Transfer phase takes up to 3 months. The exact timeline depends on team size and how quickly the operation reaches maturity.
How is BOT different from staff augmentation?
Staff augmentation extends your existing team with contractors that remain on the provider's payroll indefinitely.
