Data Engineer (Remote, LATAM)
Remote - LATAM
|Contract
Our client is a fast-growing Snowflake Services Partner working across North America, continuing to expand their remote data engineering team in LATAM. They're bringing on an additional contractor to support their ongoing data engineering work, with some frontend-related work in the mix on this engagement.
This is a great opportunity for a data engineer who loves working with innovative clients and continuously researching and learning new technologies like dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, and Terraform. Most of the work is data engineering and DevOps, Snowflake and dbt as the core, but this engagement also includes some frontend-related work, so you'll need working knowledge of Java, TypeScript, and Next.js to contribute across the stack. We want to hear from you if you're ready to break boundaries in the data world and enjoy picking up new tools as you go.
This is a 3-month fixed-term contract with some renewal potential. The engagement is fully remote, and the candidate can be located anywhere in Latin America. You'll need strong English communication skills (B2+ or higher) for this role.
What you'll get to do:
- Interact with internal technical teams and potentially purely business-oriented clients: analyze customer data requirements and help develop suitable solutions.
- Collect data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, and logs, and integrate it into a unified data ecosystem.
- Perform data cleaning, structuring, and transformation tasks to ensure that raw data is in a usable format for analysis.
- Manage databases, including creating and maintaining database structures, optimizing query performance, and ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Develop and maintain ETL pipelines that extract data from source systems, transform it into the desired format, and load it into a destination database or data warehouse.
- Monitor data quality, implement data validation checks, and troubleshoot data-related issues to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
- Passion for data and engineering excellence
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Strong command of SQL, and hands-on experience in writing complex queries, optimizing database performance, and designing efficient database schemas.
- Proven skills in creating and maintaining data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
- Intermediate-level ETL experience
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake (strongly preferred)
- Intermediate-level hands-on experience building data solutions using a variety of traditional and/or big data technologies
- Working knowledge of Java, TypeScript, and Next.js 15 — this engagement includes some frontend-related work, so you'll need to be comfortable contributing here, though deep frontend expertise isn't required.
- Software engineering experience is an asset
- Modern Data Workflows (DBT, Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- CI/CD (Gitlab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Programming Languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, Kotlin)

- Completed background checks will be required prior to the start date if you are selected as a winning candidate.
