QA Automation Tester (Remote, Latin America)
Remote - LATAM
|Contract
Our client, a leading company in the banking and financial services industry, is rebuilding its customer portal from the ground up alongside several other projects. To support that work, they're looking for an experienced tester to strengthen the team's automation coverage and keep quality high as the new platform takes shape.
This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-senior QA/Automation Tester who's automation-first but comfortable rolling up their sleeves for manual work when it's the right call. You'll own end-to-end test coverage across the portal rebuild, stand up test automation frameworks from scratch, and partner closely with developers and product teams to keep releases moving. The team runs a hands-off management style, so you'll have real room to take initiative, propose improvements, and drive testing standards rather than wait to be told what to do.
This's a long-term contract opportunity with no end date. The engagement is fully remote, and the candidate can be located anywhere in Latin America. You'll need strong English communication skills (B2+ or higher) for this role. You'll also need to be available for team meetings and at least 4 hours of daily overlap with the PST time zone.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated end-to-end test suites, with automation as the primary focus for ensuring high-quality product delivery.
- Set up and maintain test automation frameworks from scratch, building out end-to-end coverage using Playwright.
- Automate repetitive and regression-prone areas, expanding coverage wherever manual testing isn't the best fit.
- Take ownership of manual testing tasks when needed, resolving manual tickets quickly and efficiently to keep the team moving forward.
- Work closely with developers and product teams to build and execute effective test plans, taking initiative under a hands-off management style.
- Contribute to defining test metrics and improving overall testing processes, bringing ideas for quick wins in automation.
- Perform manual testing when necessary to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- 4+ years of experience as a test automation engineer, with a strong balance of automation and manual testing skills.
- Hands-on experience building end-to-end test automation with Playwright.
- Experience setting up test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Experience testing in a React/Node.js on AWS tech stack.
- Willingness to perform manual testing as needed, with the ability to manage manual tickets efficiently.
- Self-driven, able to take initiative, ask questions, and seek help as needed.
- Interest or hands-on experience using AI to support testing (e.g., AI-assisted test generation, maintenance, or triage).
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment without needing direction from a manager.
- Familiarity with a "shift-left" approach to testing.
- Some experience with performance testing tools, with K6 being a plus.
- Experience in the banking, fintech, or financial services industry.
- Completed background checks will be required before the start date if you are selected as a winning candidate.
- As a winning candidate, you will be required to disclose your engagement with DevEngine as a primary client on your professional LinkedIn profile.
